Well, I guess we could say the I fell off the wagon of the training program. No worries I was still running and biking like crazy, I just wasn't following the program. But- 6 weeks from today is race day, so it's time to get back on the horse and get motivated!
Todays workout was a 60 minute run! I'm still not sure I understand why he has us running so much at one time. I assume it's just general conditioning, but for most training plans this would be 6 miles. My cardio ADD causes problems with 6 miles. Plus- you know I'm a slow runner. I'm working on that, but really, that's going to be my winter goal. That's right! Sometime in early November I'm going to start training for a 10k. I have to research training programs, but I'm hoping to do the Polar Dash on Jan 1st!
But, back to the Iron Girl-- with a 60 minute goal- I set out on my hilly 4.5 mile course affectionately called "the graveyard run" since it goes by a cemetery. It's mean, there are lots of hills and it hurts. It took me 50 minutes to run it, obviously walking some, with about an 11 minute mile pace. The good news is that the first 2 miles were in 9:28 and 10:40, so at least I'm starting strong. Somewhere after that 2.3 mile mark is when I started walking and running in spurts. Going to try harder! :)
The next workout is scheduled for Tuesday, but I might do it tomorrow! It's a track workout
