Tonya Andruskiewicz, LWS
Health Coach. This is the most well-rounded term that I can find to describe my services. I love to teach people how to be healthy! It might be through classes on establishing healthy eating habits, coming into your home and cooking you a meal, teaching you about using essential oils, or fitness instruction. Dandy Life is about teaching you how to make healthier lifestyle choices.
As a Lifestyle and Weight Management Specialist, my goal is to help you find a successful “food strategy”. I do not believe in diets, instead, I believe that there is room for a little bit of anything. I follow the philosophy of my Nutritious Life Certification, eating real food and limiting the amount of processed food in my own diet. Food is an essential part of our lives, and you must be able to find balance between healthy eating, social eating, and necessity eating. My programs are designed to help conquer your healthy eating barriers, manage your stress levels, and energize your life.
Becoming a Certified Personal Fitness Chef, rounds out my vision of what Dandy Life strives to be. I love to cook and create new recipes. I specialize in vegetable sneaks, single servings, and making your favorite classics healthier. Going into peoples homes and showing them how to cook healthfully is a great way to introduce the coaching aspect. It's the perfect combination.
We all know that just eating right isn't enough. Being active is an important part of my life. I grew up being an athlete, but as college passed, and adult life began, I moved from athlete to "someone who works out". I still played softball, volleyball and broom ball, but I no longer considered myself an athlete. Then in 2012 I decided to try my first Triathlon! I was immediately hooked, and have since done more triathlons, duathlons, and mud runs. Researching training programs, got me interested in becoming a Personal Trainer and I got my ACE Personal Training Certification in March of 2013.
Young Living Essential Oils came into my life in early 2011. I became interested in aromatherapy when I went to massage school (in 2001). But, I have since learned that essential oils can be so much more! They can be used in place of pain killers, and allergy medications, be mixed at bug spray in the summer, and ward off Winter colds! I love using and talking about Young Living Oils!
Where did this all start, you ask? I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Psychology Degree and a Kinesiology minor. My interest in Nutrition began when I worked for the U of M Medical School Psychiatry Department, Neuroscience Division. The doctors I worked for studied eating disorders. I was hooked on learning the biology and psychology of why people struggle with food and eating choices. The interest went from a student job, to a fascination with nutrition, followed by a need for more education (through NESTA and the Spencer Institute), and has resulted in the creation of Dandy Life.
