The Dandy Life Naming Story
With a last name like mine (Andruskiewicz), you can imagine there were a lot of nicknames involved. Alphabet Girl was always my personal favorite, but my dad went by Don Andy. His coworkers of 40 years did not know him by any other name.
My dad was an avid fisherman. Like all great bass fisherman, he loved to make his own spinner baits. He and our family friends, Jack and Ron, would spend one long night every Spring making lures to get ready for the fishing season ahead.
He had often told me that someday, when he retired, he would like to create a line of fishing lures called, “D. Andy Lures”. Dandy Lures! I always loved the thought of this, what a great, catchy (no pun intended) name!
Dad passed away in 2007, and never got the opportunity to retire and make fishing lures. I could not let the D.Andy name die with him. So, Dandy Life was created in his honor, because no one knew how to live the good life (or maybe a dandy life) like my dad.
